Frequently Asked Questions

My children play sports. Are mouth guards really necessary?

To avoid injuries to their mouth, your children should wear mouthguards whenever they play a sport that involves physical contact with another person or with an object that could hit them (football, hockey, lacrosse, or soccer, for example).  The mouthguards should be made by a dentist so that they fit properly and don’t limit your children’s ability to play sports.

As a community service, Dr. Phan is offering sports mouth guards to children at a very low cost.  Please call our office for more information.

Why are X-Rays necessary and how are they helpful?

X-Rays show us decay, bone height and quality, tooth and root malformations, impacted teeth, sinus, masses, cysts, tumors and other abnormalities. To be able to fully diagnose your dental needs, it is important for Dr Phan to have this important diagnostic tool.

Do you refer patients to specialists?

While we're trained and equipped to handle many dental issues in our office, when a specialist would better serve you, we'll refer. Some dental specialists are oral surgeons, periodontists (supporting structures), endodontists (internal tooth problems), and pedodontists (for children with special cases). We refer to only trusted professionals with whom we have a good rapport.

What kind of financial options do you offer?

We’re always glad to work with you to ensure that you get the dental care that you need.  We accept cash, check, and credit cards.  For more extensive dental work, we have some long-term, low-interest financing plans available such as: CareCredit.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

We do accept most insurance plans (although not dental HMOs) and will be happy to work with you to ensure that you receive any benefits that you have coming to you.

What is your policy on appointment cancellations?

If you have to cancel an appointment, we ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice. A fee of $25.00 will apply to your account for a cancelled appointment with less than 24-hours notice. This allows us to use the time for another patient who needs care.

Do you accept referrals?

We welcome and appreciate your referrals of your family, friends and neighbors. We see it as an honor for you to trust us enough to recommend us to someone who is a friend.
